Crisis committee
In place of the usual country-to-country collaboration that MUN is infamous for, crisis committee offers an alternative for veteran delegates to try their hand at a more advanced level of debate. Students take on the role of characters, all of which have their own individual abilities and agendas. Delegates are presented with a crisis, then write notes, directives, communiques, individual action portfolios, and press releases in committee to attempt to resolve the crisis. Notes are individual actions enacted solely by the delegate, while directives are team actions that the committee decides to take on as a whole. Although formality is still inherent throughout debate, the feel of this committee is much closer to Security Council than it is to General Assembly committees.
