Chairs Security Council - Words of Welcome
We warmly welcome you to this year’s LahnMUN! As your Chairs in the Security Council we look forward to meeting all of you and to have an exciting, interesting, productive, and mostly fun conference with you.
Both of us Chairs attended several MUN conferences, gaining experience and also getting addicted to the simulation. Sascha is a 4th year student of Sociology, Ethnology and Law and is actively involved in the politics of the Goethe-University of Frankfurt as a senator of the University and as president of the national political group LHG. Kaya is in her 5th year of studying Japanology, Political Science and Law. As a passionate MUNler she took part in organizing and chairing the MainMUN conference in Frankfurt and also was the head delegate for the NMUN 2015 in New York.
Excellencies, you will be working in the one principal organ of the United Nations which is responsible for “the maintenance of international peace and security”. The Security Council has the exclusive power to decide on legal rules and binding law through its resolutions. But along with this power and possibility comes a high responsibility.
Please bear in mind that the provided background guide is merely supposed to give you an overview of the topic. For your individual preparation, we strongly recommend specific research on your country’s position as well as a thorough reading of the Charta and the Rules of Procedure. The preparation of the respective position of your state is essential.
In case that problems or questions arise during your research on the topics, or concerning the conference in general, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing all of you soon in Marburg!
